The Moorings is built behind a meandering eight mile seawall along the banks of the Indian River. The scenic Moorings yacht basin serves as a natural harbor. Yachtsmen and boaters have easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway through the deep Moorings entrance channel, located at Channel Marker 100.
Each riverfront homesite has seawalled moorings, and riverfront condominiums feature private docking. Additional docking slips are provided at Spyglass Harbor and Harbour Side Yacht Club, the closest deep water harbours to Ft. Pierce Inlet in Indian River County.
The Fort Pierce Inlet is approximately nine miles south, and is a commercial port recognized for its deep channel and safe access to the ocean. The northernmost tip of the Bahamas is only 100 miles due east of the Fort Pierce inlet.
